CEBU 2018 STEEMIT MEET-UPS | THE EVIDENCE OF A GROWING COMMUNITY TOWARDS UNITY | A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN | READY FOR THE YEAR'S BATTLE

I believed that every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.

The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.
-Coretta Scott King

As being said, we cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own. That is why the 6th Steemit Cebu Blogger Meet Up happened to encourage individual steemians to invest more in the community so when the time comes you will reap overflowing good harvest. It's another way of showing people hopes and encouragement knowing that there is an ever supporting community for them to be part of, and I'm the luckiest guy ever live in the blockchain world because finally, I found such great community as early as not too late.

When you invest your time, you make a goal and a decision of something that you want to accomplish. Whether it's make good grades in school, be a good athlete, be a good person, go down and do some community service and help somebody who's in need, whatever it is you choose to do, you're investing your time in that.

One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing

Increasing Numbers

In the previous @Steemph.cebu community meet-ups there were only a few people participating maybe because nobody yet talking about steemit that time. Not literally nobody but as you can see the numbers are growing and it's the best indication that more people will come to the platform by the coming months and that I am more excited to see where this journey take us.

In this 6th Meet-ups, amazingly we had gathered about 50 steemians in one place including some who've not yet started but are willing and passionate to make steemit a lifestyle. We didn't expect this number but what we can do? steemit is real pretty rewarding!

Dolce Cafe : The Venue | A Sweet Tooth's Paradise

I'm with you in the expectation that Dolce Cafe Cebu is pricey considering its location and food. Yet, I guess it's really wrong to judge something so fast. Dolce offers Cebuanos delights and blends that are even way cheaper than other popular cafes. Dolce surely took advantage of the overlooking view from its location.

@fernwehninja made a reservation for 30-40 people at Dolce Cafe. He choose this venue because according to her It's a cozy and refreshing cafe with a lovely mountain view background that provides a perfect spot for steemians to unwind.

All steemians attended the events have their name recorded to keep track of them for more engagement, and so my name was also listed in there.

It is around 3 PM when I arrived there and luckily I made it not so late to came. I got there almost late because It's far from my location and it's so hard for me to find but thanks to my uncle google for providing a real-time map view. nothing can hinder a motivated steemians yey!

The purpose

Basically there are so many reasons why we are doing this kind of activity but I only listed a few.

Purpos #1. Orient Them To Understand the platform

The main purpose of the event is to help new steemians to understand the core basic of steemit like :

  • What is Steemit.com?
  • How does Steemit work?
  • How does Steemit differ from other social media websites?
  • Does it cost anything to post, comment, or vote?
  • Can I earn digital tokens on Steemit? How?
  • Where do the tokens come from?
  • Where does the value come from?
  • Why are people getting vastly different rewards?
  • Markdown Techniques for Beginners
  • Creating the Proper Introduction
  • Importance of Tagging
  • Helpful followers and posts
  • Ways in Steemit Success
  • Reward Payout Computation
  • Steem Power VS. Voting Power
  • The Difference between Steem, Steem Dollar and Steem Power
  • Cashing out
  • And etc...

The beginners who have an account but never started yet and those who don't have an account yet goes to @bellatravelph's hand together with @ninyea and @tegoshei, while international steemians staying in Cebu goes to @jassennessaj, @fernwehninja and @purepinay, and the rest local steemians goes to @mikekenlytungal & @itinerantph.

There are international Steemians as well

@xsasj a full time traveler from the Netherlands who fell inlove in the Philippines and staying in Cebu for almost a year now . I got a deep talk to her at @bonjovey's house together with @marysent after the event and she's pretty amazing how she viewed life differently.

@wanderingdanish from Denmark whose been traveling in Cebu many times together with his lover @iwanderela. @purpletanzanite from Tanzania is a nurse, volunteer and an entrepreneur living in Cebu for 7 years now. She manages Afrique-lassie Hair Extensions & Braiding, Philippines. @m1r1 a beautiful lady from Germany who do volunteer activities at school.

The other one is unknown to me, though, he already signd up according to @fernwehninja and currently waiting for confirmation.

Purpos #2. Give People Hopes And Bigger Dreams

"Anybody who has ever struggled to plant his feet onto the floor in the morning knows that life can be hard; it can be stressful; it can be overwhelming. But each of those negative, less than optimal feelings immediately takes a back seat to the inspirational power of hope so we need to give that hope to them that needs it the most.

Perhaps, what we steemians need to do is realize there are some real hurting people out there who do not need another sermon or lecture but, rather, a fresh word of hope and encouragement from people like us.

"They need help and they need steemit too!" I can say. If we can help people from being a slave of debts and have their way out to financial freedom, I'm so sure they can help others too! So these community we are building is a life-changing community as we knew that steemit really can make a living.

The After-event

It was around 6 PM when I and @marysent decided to go home early when I didn't expect @purepinay to invite and have us with them in thier car. At first, I thought it's go home time yet the car suddenly turn left. Without even asking here is where the car took us :

My God! It's @bonjovey's so big big house! Such a wonderful kidnapping scenario. But anyways I have a lot of fun thier, so much food to it that I myself didn't finish what I put in my plate.

@purepinay sung her favourite songs while me and @marysent was having a good talk with @xsasj. The rest of the team are having a meting about something we should be excitd to hear from @steemph.cebu, so stay tune.
