Family or politics? Some bloody will be in the elections in 2019
Not only different parties are expected to collide in the upcoming elections in May 2019, but also bloody opposition to the same position.
JINGGOY VS JV
For example, siblings Senator JV Ejercito and former senator Jinggoy Estrada are both candidates for entry into the "magic 12" of the Senate.
Ejercito admits that politics is the root of more than a decade of brotherhood.
Estrada plans to talk to the father of Manila Mayor and former President Joseph Estrada Estrada but not his brother Jinggoy.
"Maybe when we're resolved, when we talk to a father [tsaka ko kakausapin si Jinggoy]. I first get that. But it's a big deal, but hopefully both of us will realize soon, "Ejercito said.
But Erap did not deny the displeasure of his two children.
"It's sad, I do not understand my two children, all my help ... I do not have any favoritism, I do not know why they've been," Erap exclaimed.
ABBY VS JUNJUN
A fight-siblings quarreled to the position of deportation in Makati City.
Desidido as former mayor Junjun Binay returns to the city hall and intends to oppose his brother and incumbent mayor Abby Binay.
Junjun acknowledged that on his birthday in July they talked with his sister Abby.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), however, is studying Junjun's possible execution even though the Ombudsman is barred from re-hosting the government.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez explained that until the final decision, the court will not be considered "disqualified" by the candidate.
"If there's a final decision, a final conviction against him, then that will bar you. If there's an appeal pending, then it will not fit the criteria for disqualification," Jimenez said.
(If the court has a final judgment, it is prohibited for a person to run. But if an appeal is pending, he / she will not be deemed disqualified.)
Comelec said part of their ministerial duty is to accept the application of all candidates who have completed the requirements.
Junjun is confident that he will overturn the legal banning of him.
"We have a strong defense there, so I believe there is no basis for those cases," he said.
On this weekend, former Vice President Jejomar Binay and his wife Elenita are expected to arrive from the pilgrimage trip to discuss the possible conflicts between the brothers.
'VOICE OF VOTERS'
Political scientist and chairperson of the UP political science department said. Maria Ela Atienza, politics has long gone into the family.
Such scenes can be viewed at two points: as part of democracy or the desire to control a place or territory.
But Atienza said that more voters today are no longer the name of the candidate.
"[Tinatanong nila] what is the service that can be given? What is their platform? Can they give us an alternative? It is also important that they identify issues. What are their fight issues? They are very important, "explains the political scientist.
According to the Comelec, it is estimated that there are 18,094 positions to be filled in the elections in 2019.
Up to October 17 is filing a certificate of candidacy and exposes other siblings to the same position.
